MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - TRANSPORT MIA AIRPORT

Miami International Airport FloridaMiami -Miami International Airport (MIA) is situated 7 miles west of Downtown Miami. It is the only airport in Greater Miami that has scheduled service. It handles more than 1,400 daily flights making Miami International Airport among the busiest in the world and the third busiest in the United States. Over 100 airlines fly scheduled services to MIA from all over the world. As well as all the usual services for passengers, the airport offers tours of two hours to those interested.

The tours cover the terminal building, explore the airfield and its workings, provide information on the fire department, looks at the art elements in the airport, etc. The tour also gives informative and interesting leaflets specially geared for children. Call the airport at (305) 876-7487 to learn more about these tours or to reserve a place.

When you arrive at Miami International Airport (MIA), there are many forms of transport to get you into Miami Downtown or to any of the resorts.

Transport to and from Miami International Airport

Bus
Metrobus has routes that connect to both Metrorail and TriRail. Buses have different routes and timings so you may have to wait a while. Metrobus is for the budget conscious and costs less than $2 (free if you travel on on Tri-Rail). You get the Metrobus at Level 1 across the Airport Drive from Concourse E. If you return to the airport via TriRail the Metrobus will take you to the Airport Terminal for free.

Car
If you are hiring a car, you can pick up the Rental Car from the airport itself and get going to your destination immediately. Ask ahead for city maps but it is not too difficult to get out of the airport area. Follow the signage for the part of Miami City you want.

Super Shuttle
Miami International Airport also has a Super Shuttle service into the main hotels, Port of Miami and different areas of Greater Miami such as Palm Beach, Monroe County, Lower Keys, etc. These operate on a 24 hour basis and you can link up with the vans just outside the Baggage Reclaim area (on the ground level). For your return trip it is best to make a reservation 24 hours before you want to leave your accommodation. Rates are from about $10 - $20 depending on your destinations though additional members of a party may pay less and children under three ride free.

Taxi
Taxis can be found on both the arrival and departure levels. Talk to the uniformed dispatcher to get the cab for you. The fare from the airport to Downtown Miami is about $15-$20 while to the Port is about $20. If you want to go to somewhere nearer the airport, the dispatcher will call an Airport Region Taxi Service cab for your. These cabs operate a two zone fare structured so you know the fare before you leave the Airport.

Train
For long hauls as far north as Palm Beach County, TriRail is the best bet and offers free shuttle service to and from MIA. Timings are different on weekdays and weekends so check out the schedule on the website so you know how long you’ll have to wait.
