Butterfly World is north from Miami past
Fort Lauderdale. It is a unique attraction and well
worth a trip and is one of the sightseeing gems in
this part of Florida. It is situated in Tradewinds
Park, ten miles north of Fort Lauderdale. The Butterfly
World is just inside Tradewinds Park and you can’t
miss it. Here you walk through carefully controlled
tropical rain forest with lush vegetation and loads
of magnificent butterflies fluttering around you.
There are over five thousand of butterflies roaming
freely in this huge butterfly house – the largest
butterfly house in the United States.
The environment is created to suit the life style
of the butterflies and you can see them at every stage
of their life development and watch as the adult butterflies
feed on the exotic blossoms. The “house”
is 30 feet in height and the design includes caves,
trees, flowers, a waterfall to recreate a natural
environment for the over 80 Butterfly Species.
The butterflies come from all over the world from
America North, South and Central with many coming
from Asia - most of them with truely dazzling colored
wings.
There is also a series of outdoor gardens to enjoy
like the English Rose Garden, the Secret Garden and
so on. Another attraction is the Jewels of the Sky
Humming Bird Sanctuary. For good
fun participate in the feeding at the Lorikeet Encounter.
Butterfly World is open 7 days a
week from 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and on Sunday
from 1pm to 5pm. Last admissions are at 4.00 pm but
do get there early to fully enjoy all the wonderful
sights. Butterflies like this you’ll see no
where else.
